My Job Shadow At West Liberty Middle School - 1606 Words

I had my job shadow at West Liberty Middle School and I chose this school because I have been there previously. I spent the whole day at this school and learned a lot throughout the day. I am a family friend with the teacher who teaches seventh and eight grade English. Although I do not plan to teach middle school I still enjoy and learn a lot going to this school, because there’s a very diverse group of students from my different backgrounds. I feel like shadowing this school is much more realistic to the difficulties I may encounter as a teacher, therefore I benefit from shadowing this teacher and school. There were many take-a-ways that I encountered through this shadow. There were many students that had learning disabilities and even students that English is their second language. I was able to watch how these students learned through a teacher helper. This stood out to me because in most schools when a student doesn’t know English or is struggling with a certain to pic of area they learn the material in a different classroom rather than in the normal classroom. I thought that this was very interested how they implemented this into the classroom setting. There was an interpreter in the classroom and there were six students that could not speak English. They sat in a group while the teacher continued as normal and the interpreter would translate. In this poem, irony exists for the mere fact that from birth to adulthood the female population is brought up to feel fulfilled by simply becoming a wife and mother; however, this poem describes the monotonous duties and the joyless bond that can be between husband and wife. As the poem opens, Dove begins with a metaphor that entertains the idea of exhaustion from motherhood and managing the household. â€Å"But she saw diapers steaming on the line, a doll slumped behind the door† (Dove 896), the author offers this line to serve as a mirror image of the main character herself. To regain her composure, she finds a relaxing place behind the garage and the littlest objects such as â€Å"the pinched armor of a vanished cricket† or â€Å"a floating maple leaf† (Dove 896) serve as a simple pleasure and peace. â€Å"When she closed her eyes she’d see only her own vivid blood† in other words, she feels alive and free when she is in complete silence and isolation. Her mind wanders elsewhere, in a place where she is her own master, instead of what is reality. Additionally, the main character’s husband shows some selfish tendencies in the fact that he may not notice his wife’s discontentment with his affection. However, this may also present the lack of communication between man and wife and therefore may cause a sense of isolation from her husband. The main character possesses the characteristics of most young women, a full plate of responsibility and the lack of freedom that can wither away a person’s soul. My response to this poem is that I strongly respect the author for bringing up such a controversial issue such as discontentment with being a stay-at-home mother, since this is usually to be expected of women. Dove explains the poem delicately and leaves the underlying sense that she may have possibly been through the situation herself. This being said, her imagery is wonderfully used and the metaphor of the doll being slumped over is a brilliant way to reflect upon the main character’s feelings and actions. The irony comes into play, in my opinion, when as young girls we are raised to act lady-like and put forth our best manners so we can be appealing to a man, who in the end will be the domineering figure in the household. In other words, we are raised to become a docile, subservient woman just so we can possibly lose ourselves and our dreams. I feel as thought, unfortunately, many young woman use the power of a man to live a comfortable life, however, they do not realize that it can be a huge price to pay. Conclusively, I feel as though the author put forth a grand amount of effort and put together a beautifully written poem that may inspire many woman for years to come.

Many came together in an effort to protect themselves and their belongings, from such threats as animals, weather and other humans. This grouping also made it easier to find food and satisfy their need for socialization. They donned weapons, erected walls, built barriers, and made laws, in an attempt to shield themselves from danger and fear. Humans evolved, as did their types of security, weaponry and barriers. Often, rulers selected individuals to aid in the enforcement of laws, as well as provide security for the ruler himself. Many of those individuals were men chosen from the military, which were often ruthless, and dangerous. The Romans relied upon the military force of the legions. To place the military on a stable foundation and disperse the power that the legions held, Augustus, the Emperor of Rome, created The Praetorian Guard, a type of bodyguard police, The Urban Cohorts, which were comprised of soldiers with police and military duties. Also, The Vigiles, large groups of firefighter police. During the Middle Ages, the Serfs, working for Noblemen, who answered to the King, worked the land, provided arms and fought in the Kings wars. In exchange, the Serfs received food and security from the noblemen. Anglo-Saxons brought the idea of mutual responsibility for protection of individuals. Tithings, a Grouping of ten families, collectively assumed responsibility for maintaining law and order. The tithing system was later replaced with the Frankpledge system after the Norman Conquest. The Frankpledge system demanded that all free Englishman swear to keep the peace. The Magna Charta, challenged the feudal system during King Johns reign as his lords revolted and forced him to sign, giving all Englishmen due process of law. Another option is to simply order a color change crystal kit. The one by Thames and Kosmos is reliable and includes a total of three experiments. Prepare the Solution and Grow Crystals In a small clear container, simply dissolve the potassium alum and red prussiate in 50 milliliters of hot water. It make take a few minutes for the salts to fully dissolve. If you still have undissolved material after a couple of minutes, you can carefully set your container inside another larger container of very hot water, to act as a hot water bath and help the salts dissolve.Once the chemicals are dissolved, set your container of chemicals in a location where the crystals can grow without being disturbed.Youll start to see tiny crystals after 30 minutes to a couple of hours.
